[BEAUTY] New Hair by Sassoon

In the weekend I was fortunate enough to be invited for a cut, colour and treatment at the Sassoon Salon South Molton Street.

For you guys who have have been following me for a while, know that every time I go to the hairdressers (notably here and here) – I have the constant dilemma of either going back to my natural colour (dark brown), or go even lighter. Each time I chicken out, keeping it quite similar (caramel tones), with just subtle enhancements and length. This time however – I wanted a bit more of a radical change – or rather, my hair needed a big chop (sadly – but much necessary).

Firstly, let me tell you how fabulous this salon is. Located on one of my favourite streets in London, South Molton Street, just off Bond Street – this unassuming salon is a bustling two-storey haven. Granted, I chose an appointment at possibly their busiest time of the week – midday on Saturday – I was met with a big smile, with friendly, professional and relaxed staff. I was fortunate enough to have my colour with the lovely Neville (a Sassoon employee for over 10 years!) – who after meeting with me for a skin test prior to the appointment, had already decided for an ‘Allesandra Ambrosio’ colour on me (if only).

The gorgeous Laura was cutting my hair, and after consulting with both of them about the cut – we all agreed that my hair was in really bad condition, and needed quite a lot chopped off. I breathed in… and agreed. They were never pushy – just explaining the benefits of a thorough hair cut (rather than the regular trims that I normally get – which they surprisingly said were pretty much pointless; good to know!). I liked their honesty, and felt completely in safe hands and in ease throughout the whole process – which is very important at any salon (no rushed or forced decisions).

Let the treatment begin!

Before…

Lifeless with broken ends.

In progress…

In the chair with Neville working his magic (god – I look like a scarecrow here). He lightened the whole hair and roots (no bleach) – adding one colour all over, called ‘biscuit’, then he put on a toner, to take away the orange/red tones.

The cut…

After the colour, it was Laura’s turn to work her magic on me. The first thing she asked me to do was to stand up – while doing the initial shaping. One word: precision. This girl didn’t miss a single hair, and was precise to a point. Granted, it was short –  a lot shorter than I would have liked it – but my hair feels a-mazing and super healthy. And – it’s already grown a bit since Saturday!

Result…

Lighter, shorter and thicker! Love it.

The colour in this picture doesn’t really show how light it actually is (especially on the top), so I snapped some more pictures the days after, as seen below.

Hope you like it!

As an extra treat – they supplied me with the below products by Sassoon – which they used on my hair during the treatment. Shampoo, conditioner, treatment (this stuff is sooo good), a leave-in-conditioner, and a very useful travel set.

In other words, the perfect Saturday…

Thank you to team Sassoon Salon South Molton Street!

[BEAUTY] Haircut & Colour

1st Step: Added more blonde on the under layers (do you like the ‘pigtails’ in the first pic??).

2nd Step: Filled in the roots with a darker brown and combed it into the light blonde.

3rd Step: Trimmed the ends.

4th Step: Voila! All done. The result is a more smooth and clean gradient.

When it comes to the ‘ombré’ hair trend (dark roots/light ends) which has been much hyped in the past year or so – I’ve kind of been rocking that for the last 6-months (non-intentionally; it was a case of giving my hair some rest from the colour/being too lazy to fill in the roots!). Now, the latest hair trend is all about ‘block’ colours – but who cares! I’ve found that this style suits me much better as I’m naturally darker – and it also saves me having to fill in my roots every other month.

However, I wanted to get it done properly (as it was never originally on purpose) by filling in and adding some more colour to the under layers of my hair. So when I was down in Brighton this weekend – I popped into Forde Hair, where my lovely and talented cousin works (this lady seriously works wonders with my hair!) – and the result is exactly what I was after. Hope you like it!

[BEAUTY] Moroccan Oil Glimmer Shine Spray

Dec 4, 2012 by Anneli in BEAUTY 4 COMMENTS❤❤ TAGS: argain oil, BEAUTY, glimmer shine, hair, moroccan oil, serum

Although I haven’t coloured my hair since spring time – my hair is still looking pretty lifeless and dry (I guess my best friend Camilla, was trying to tell me something when she gave me this as a present!)

I’m ignoring my bad roots (trying too), and putting as much moisture into it while I can! After years of hype and reviews (majority being good) – I have succumbed to the Moroccanoil craze, getting the ‘Glimmer Shine’ spray. It basically contains the same as the ‘standard’ oil treatment – but supposed to add some extra shine, preventing frizz and static hair. I can’t wait to start using it!

From Moroccanoil, £18.65 (100ml).

I mentioned in a post a few days ago that I have cut my hair, and here is a better picture of it! Layered and shorter. I might fill in my roots as well, which are getting darker and darker (you can’t really see it in these pictures). Or, I might go for the ombre look… I am always so indecisive when it comes to my hair!

[BEAUTY] Philip Kingsley PK4 Hair Dietry Supplement

Jul 28, 2012 by Anneli in BEAUTY 3 COMMENTS❤❤ TAGS: BEAUTY, hair, health, nutrition, philip kingsley, soya tablets

My hair is in desperate need of some tender love and care – especially some thickness and growth, after too much sun exposure and salt water. I was recommended these Soya Protein capsules from Philip Kingsley, P4K Hair (£18.70). As you can read above the tablets enhances the production of Keratin (protein) to help grow your hair stronger and fuller. Just what I need!

I have to admit I hate taking tablets, and these ones in particular are a tad too big for my liking. However I have heard so much amazing about this product, I will have to succumb to my fear in exchange for (hopefully) full and glossy hair. A review will follow – watch this space.

Get them from here.

[BEAUTY] Malin+Goetz Shampoo & Conditioner

Jun 17, 2012 by Anneli in BEAUTY COMMENT ❤ HERE TAGS: BEAUTY, conditioner, hair, malin+goetz, review, shampoo

Do you remember this post a while back? Well as promised, here is my full review on the Malin+Goetz Moisturizing Shampoo (£19.50) & Cilantro Conditioner (£16.50).

Before I review the hair care, I would just like to add that my hair condition is very dry from a lot of colouring and sun exposure. I’ve rarely ever been happy with any hair care in the past, and have been known to try a lot of different products.

I am massive fan of Malin+Goetz products and the whole concept, so as I was delighted when I discovered a range “…suited to dry, damaged or processed hair”. The shampoo contains grapeseed and apricot, so it smells super fresh, feels very light after usage, not leaving any residue and “…can be used daily, helping hair to retain moisture, restore balance and shine.” It’s a low lather product that works as a terrific detangler and makes my hair feel really soft afterwards.

The conditioner, again “…for colour treated, straightened and processed hair” – feels amazing and not greasy (which so many conditioners do), and I can finally brush through my wet hair with ease.

Both the shampoo and conditioner are oil free and actually recommended for daily use, which proves it’s gentle but incredibly effective ingredients. My hair is left very soft and although I haven’t been using it every day (I like to give my hair 2-3 days rest to re-gain it’s natural oils), it still feels amazing.

So to conclude, an amazing hair care set worth every penny!

WISH LIST // Hair Inspiration

Yes, the saga of my life. Blonder, darker, ambre, warmer or colder. Well, this is my mood board for my hairdresser’s appointment at Chapel in Islington later on today. I’m not sure I’ll be brave enough to go with the ambre look – but I’m definitely looking to go a lot lighter (I think). Arh, so indecisive!

Will show you how it turns out…watch this space.

[BEAUTY] Malin+Goetz Shampoo & Conditioner

Apr 22, 2012 by Anneli in BEAUTY 2 COMMENTS❤❤ TAGS: BEAUTY, conditioner, hair, malin+goetz, shampoo

I’ve just run out of my shampoo & conditioner – I’ve been using Fekkai’s Full Blown Volume range, which actually lasted me nearly 5 months. As I have mentioned in a previous post, I try to only wash my hair 1-2 times a week – hence why I am addicted to this miracle dry shampoo by Klorane.

After reading loads about Malin+Goetz and it’s products – I popped into Liberty’s yesterday morning and bought the Moisturising Shampoo (£19.50) and Moisturising Conditioner (£16.50). Can’t wait to start using it! My hair definitely needs some love and care after 10 days in the sun. For extra moisture, I use Kérastase Elixir Ultime serum in my hair when it’s still damp.

A review will follow. Watch this space.
